Packing is where a sale becomes a happy buyer or a headache. A piece that arrives clean, dry and on time, looking just like your photos, gives the buyer no reason to complain. One that turns up damp, late or in a parcel bigger than its label costs you time, money and sometimes the sale.

On most resale apps the deal is the same. Buyer pays at checkout, the platform gives you a prepaid label or QR code (checked 28 Sep 2026, source 1). eBay business accounts are the exception: you set the postage price and buy the label through eBay or elsewhere. Your job: pack well, pick the right size, post on time.

Your packing kit

You do not need branded boxes. You need packaging that protects the piece, fits snugly and meets the platform's rules.

Padded mailerClothes sold on Vinted, delicate prints and trimsPick the size that fits snugly
Plain poly mailerSoft clothing where the platform allows it: light and waterproofVinted says no bags without padding for clothes

Add strong tape (Royal Mail advises sealing every edge and opening with nylon or vinyl tape), kitchen or postal scales, a tape measure and item code (SKU) labels so you always pull the right piece. A printer is optional on most apps, but you need one for Whatnot, whose labels must be printed. Tissue paper is optional.
