How Depop works for sellers

Depop is a marketplace app and website for second-hand and vintage fashion. Buyers search, like pieces and send offers, then pay through Depop's checkout. You list, post and get paid after delivery.

Three things shape how you list on Depop: there is no title box (more below); style, era and source tags sit on top of brand and size; and you can add a short video in the app.

eBay now owns Depop (Completed 30 July 2026). Depop said no fee or policy changes were planned, but its terms have changed since, so recheck fees and terms before you price a new batch.

Set up your Depop shop

  1. Sign up in the app or on depop.com. You must be at least 13. If you are not yet an adult, a parent or guardian has to verify their details before you can sell and get paid.
  2. Decide how you are selling before you sign up to payments. If you buy stock to resell you are a business: use Depop's limited company route or, as a sole trader, ask Depop support first (next section), because a personal Depop Payments account cannot be switched to business in the app.
  3. Sign up to Depop Payments, which you need before you can list. UK sellers also agree a Bacs Direct Debit, so Depop can collect from your bank if your Depop Balance goes below zero, say after a refund.
  4. Verify your ID and add a bank account, or your money stays in your Depop Balance.
  5. Write a short bio. No links, social handles, phone numbers or email addresses.
  6. Fill in your shop policies, including returns and a dispatch time you can always hit.
